Microsoft first private donor for Khmer Rouge trials
Microsoft Singapore has provided US$100,000 in donation for the general operations of Extraordinary Chamber in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), making this giant brand the first private donor for the Khmer Rouge trials, declared the ECCC public affairs office January 11, 07. The donation was unconditional, said Peter Poster, the ECCC’s public affairs officer.
The 56-million-dollar joint UN-Cambodia tribunal budgeted to take three years to complete are still facing US$8 million shortfall. The ECCC welcomes any financial support/donation to fill the shortfall.
