The discovery of the girl on January 13 in Cambodia’s Ratanakiri after she and her younger sister went missing in 1989 has hit the headlines around the world, according to the online news.

The headline in the Daily Star was: “ Ape Girl of the Jungle.” The Sun simply called her “ the Mowgli girl” ; a Daily Telegraph headline stated: “ Jungle girl ‘lived like animal for 20 years’” .

The world is investigating her past. Whether or not Ro Cham H’pnhieng had spent 18 years in the jungle is still something to be looked into; the possibility that she is a “feral girl” appears high.
