Yahoo! was established in 1997 to offer online users with sophisticated services such as Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Search Engine and so on. One of the most popular services of Yahoo! is Yahoo! Mail. People can sign up an account for free. However, it comes with a limited service. With free account, users were not allowed with POP3.

Below is the instruction to configure YPOPS with MS Outlook 2003:

1. Select Tools -> Email accounts from the main menu
2. Select Add a new email account and click on Next
3. Select POP3 as the Server Type. Click Next
4. Enter your username and full Yahoo! email address under ‘User Information’
5. Enter your Yahoo! Login id and password under ‘Logon Information’
6. Enter ‘127.0.0.1′ as your Incoming mail server
7. Enter ‘127.0.0.1′ as the SMTP server as your outgoing mail server
8. Click on the More Settings button and select the Advanced tab
9. Increase the Server Timeout to ‘Long’ (10 minutes)
10. Select the Outgoing Server tab
11. Enable “ My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” . Select “ Use same settings as my incoming mail server” .
12. Click Ok to close the More Settings dialog
13. Click Next and then Finish

Virtual memory is created using a special file called a swap file or paging file. Here the operating system will write the least recently used data in the memory to free memory for other programs. In case you think you can improve your system’s performance by having a large page file, think again.

The speed of the memory is much, much higher than the speed of a hard disk, so as long as you use the paging file, there will always be performance degradation. However, if you have more than 256MB of RAM, use this tweak to considerably improve your performance. The main idea is to use all the memory before using the paging file.

1. Go to Start -> Run.

2. Type msconfig and click OK.

3. Click on the System.ini tab.

4. Expand the 386enh tab.

5. Click on new then in the blank box type ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1.

6. Click OK, then restart your computer for the setting to take effect.
