Phnom Penh Traffic
I don’t know how others Cambodian think about today Phnom Penh traffic, but I am really fucking up with these days Phnom Penh traffic. Sorry to use the word fuckup, but I really can’t stand with the current Phnom Penh traffic situation.
During the peak time, almost of main roads are heavy traffic and jam. Just to drive from my house, Pocheng Tong market, to my office, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, I spend about 1 hour every day (sometimes more than that). Because of this problem, rather than signing off and leaving my office at 5.00 pm, I have to stay at my office until 6.30 pm or 7.00 pm by expecting that the traffic might not be so heavy. Besides, what I hate to do the most is to get up at 5.30 am. However, it is a must thing. To do so, I can be ready to leave my home for work at 6.00 am so that I can stay away from the traffic jam.
Please do something more, my Royal Government of Cambodia and Phnom Penh Municipality Office. I know you have done something, but it is not enough. There is more that you must do.

well… i like and enjoy living in Phnom Penh, but what I hate the most about it is transportation system and traffic. i think the Phnom Penh municipality is not lacking of budget to improve Phnom Penh infrastructure. the problem is how effective and efficiency does the budget was utilized. let’s take the example of the barrier along the main road. at some point, i think it shouldn’t be built.

last weekend, i watched CTN channel and there was an interview with Phnom Penh governor about the traffic. Do you know what he said? “ we are working on it” he said. “ to reduce traffic jam, we are working on the four intersections (Preah Kosomak Hospital, Monivong Bridge, Chroychorng Va Bridge and Steung Mean Chey Bridge)” he added. When asking about building bridge at the most busy intersection points, he replied “ more time to go” . What does it mean? I guess he means he doesn’t know as well.

i think he might be too busy to stop Phnom Penh gangster from car racing. tell you what… on yesterday Education Congress 2006 – 2007, in the closing ceremony session, the prime minister said to him that “ is it that too hard just to stop those kids from car racing? can you do it or not?” i think this is not a good sign when the prime minister blames someone.

I have been away from the city for almost two years. I hope that I won’t be this fucked up by the traffic when I get back. Yeah the PM blamed his subordinates for not being able to stop those kids who are somewhat related to him. That’s a funny statement. Who dares to stop his relatives’ children?

Phnom Penh traffic is terrible because of the people, especially traffickers did not obey the traffice law. The number of travellers along the roads are not really much during the peak our but every one seem are in hurry and did not care about law ans respect other drivers. Just one to go fist, including some vihicle which has Police, civil servants, Government,…plate numbers ans also other modern car drivers are traffcking badly. If all of you pass driving school and contribute you willing to obey the law, nothing can be bad. For traffic cops are the key person to involve in. So please work together to abey the law both ordinary people, officals and polices. Do so, it can take abit longer but each drivers can go smoots without jamming. That cause you headache.
The problem can be solved unless you contribute.
Obey the traffice law + Tolorence or partient==> OK
Phnom Penh traffic facilities are Ok but people are violated the traffic.
Before you complain. Ask your self that Do you obey completly?
If you are Cambodian please…………….Please parents do not allow their children who are under age to ride or drive. If you are students, civil servants, polices,….All people, Please use your concientiousness to deal the problem.
